Players, Lovers, Politicians, and Spies!  May 31 - June 2

One Night in Bangkok- Three Nights in Bicester!

Written in 1984 by ABBA songwriters Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, with lyrics from Tim Rice, Chess tells a story of love and political intrigue, set against a backdrop of the Cold War.

A romance develops between a chess player and the manager of another player.

Will love unite nations or cause treachery on the world stage?  From Bangkok to Budapest, the players, lovers, politicians and spies all struggle to get the upper-hand.

Featuring the international hit singles I Know Him So Well and One Night In Bangkok.

Other well-known songs from the score include Anthem, Someone Else’s Story, Heaven Help my Heart and Pity The Child.

Let us transport you back to the 80s in style!  CHESS - you know it so well!

Our Production

Applauded for their approach to our recent productions, (Iolanthe, Carmen, and HMS Pinafore), directors Martin Quinn & Nikki Fine are back with another brilliant production.

Let them take you back to the 1980s with this production.  Visually stunning with sharp movements, abstract costuming, and an on-stage band, its a feast for the eyes and the ears.  Quite simply, CHESS is a delight to behold, featuring the international hit singles ‘I Know Him So Well’ and ‘One Night In Bangkok’. Other well-known songs from the score include ‘Anthem’, ‘Someone Else’s Story’, ‘Heaven Help my Heart’ and ‘Pity The Child’.
